Our Beliefs
Social Concerns: Goals and
Objectives
GOAL 1: To strengthen our efforts to incarnate the
Gospel message of Jesus Christ and Catholic Social Teaching by expanding the
membership of and the support provided to the Social Concerns Commission:
Objective 1.1: By May 2006, to develop and implement a plan to provide an overview of the Social Concerns Commission to parishioners for purposes of explaining our mission, communicating our needs, and recruiting new members and volunteers.
Objective 1.2: By May 2006, to develop a mentoring plan so that the elders of the commission can provide assistance to the newly recruited members.
GOAL 2: To strengthen our efforts to incarnate the
Gospel message of Jesus Christ and Catholic Social Teaching by increasing the
level of support provided to the
Objective 2.1: By August 2006, to develop and implement a plan to recruit younger volunteers to assist the St. Vincent DePaul Society with their duties.
Objective 2.2: By August 2006, to develop and implement a plan to increase the membership of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, with particular emphasis on the young adult population.
Objective 2.3: By November 2006, to research, develop, and implement a plan to generate additional funds for the St. Vincent De Paul Society to utilize in providing more services to those in need.
GOAL 3: To strengthen our efforts to incarnate the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and Catholic Social Teaching by increasing our knowledge base of Catholic Social Teaching:
Objective 3.1: By January 2007, to facilitate/sponsor/present an organized program of instruction on the major themes and current issues of Catholic Social Teaching.
Objective 3.2: By January 2007, to review the mission and activities of the current organizations within the Social Concerns Commission to assure that they are addressing the major themes of Catholic Social Teaching.
GOAL 4: To strengthen our efforts to incarnate the Gospel message of Jesus Christ by expanding our neighborhood outreach efforts:
Objective 4.1: By June 2006, to plan and implement strategies to develop a Parish Neighborhood Group that will deal with the social and quality of life issues of the neighborhood.
Objective 4.2: By June 2006, to establish and implement a plan to work collaboratively with Northside in addressing social concerns issues.
Objective 4.3: By June 2006, to plan and implement strategies to support Revitalization and the parish community in addressing neighborhood issues.
Objective 4.3: By September 2006, to implement a plan to expand the membership of and the services provided by the St. Matthew Homebound Ministry.
Objective 4.4: By September 2006, to increase the number of parishioners and neighborhood residents who participate in the monthly health screenings.
Objective 4.5: By September 2006, to increase the number of parishioners and neighborhood residents attending the informational health topics presentations.
